Romney Island.jpg

Lying in the shadow of the iconic Windsor Castle, Romney Island is a beautiful fishery in the mighty River Thames. Loved by Izaak Walton, this stretch is not only steeped in history but offers some of the best river fishing in the country. Half a mile long, with two weirs, there are many options with plenty of features to explore; deep holes, bars, gravel runs etc. There is a car park for members only a minute’s walk away and over 40 swims.

Early results from 2018/19 included barbel to 14lb 10oz, chub to 8lb 5oz, bream to 11lb 10oz and pike to 22lb 10oz. But no one doubts there’s bigger specimens to be caught, and the elusive Thames carp have been landed from this area before.
